February is a funny old month. As we emerge from January relieved to be finished with counting the post Christmas pennies, it seems only fair to treat ourselves. The problem? The shops are filled to the brim with new season pastels and mini skirts while we’re still shivering in our knitwear… We’ve put together a few suggestions to help you get around this very problem!
1. Choose Accessory Staples. Now is a great time to invest in Accessories, handbags don’t exactly depend on weather so you can be safe in the knowledge that your shiny new one won’t have to be packed away come April. This patent shopper bag from Zara is a great staple- large enough for daily use and the neutral colour will look stylish and simple with any outfit.
2. Buy Transitional Pieces. We all know that we’re not going to wake up one day in April to be met with a heat wave so it’s sensible to buy items that can be worn now and on those less tropical Spring/ Summer days. This lightweight knit from Reiss is a great example of the type of item that works well in this way. You can wear it now layered up with your winter coat and boots and it’ll still be suitable when you’re skipping about jacketless in ballet pumps in a few months time. The simple design of it also means that it won’t look ‘old season.’
3. Dress Your Nails. While nail colours may follow seasonal trends there are some classic trends that keep on going and metallics are one of them. Spa Ritual’s ‘Liquid Metal’ Polish offers a subtle take on the trend with a light metallic silver shade that’ll look equally ‘on trend’ now and throughout Summer.
4. Buy Classic Designs. Love it or hate it, there’s no escaping the on going popularity of leopard print. While some people may wish to go all out in leopard leggings or dresses, these shoes from Dune offer just a hint of the classic print. With a simple court design these can be worn in the office and more dressed up in the evening to add a little bit of excitement and fun to an every day outfit. And it doesn’t look like they’ll be going out of fashion any time soon…
5.Buy an Experience. Buying yourself a little treat can go far beyond the excitement of being handed your carrier bag. REN’s Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil is the perfect example with its luxurious packaging offering that great feeling of getting something special for you, it also extends that feeling of luxury with just a few drops in your bath leaving you feeling special and pampered every time you use it! Plus, if it’s good enough for Alexa and Daisy..It’s good enough for us!
So there we have it, PURE’s guide to February pay day shopping. What do you think? Do you have something else in mind? Or are you just holding out for a Valentine’s Day treat?
