Infra- Red Sauna FAQ

What is it?

Operating at 40 deg C, an infra-red sauna uses light to create heat which is absorbed by the surface of the skin.

What are the benefits?

Detoxifying

  • The body eliminates toxins by sweating, infra-red saunas allow your body to eliminate around seven times more toxins than a traditional sauna

Relaxing

  • Infra-red saunas help to balance your body’s primary stress hormone, cortisol. The heat from the sauna also helps relax muscles and relieve tension in your body which in turn allows you to relax and de-stress

Pain Relief

  • Infrared saunas increase circulation and relax muscles which helps to reduce muscle aches or joint pain caused by inflammation

Weight Loss

  • The heat generated by an infra-red sauna will cause your body’s core temperature and heart rate to increase (similar to the increased heart rate you experience while exercising). Your body then has to work harder to reduce your core temperature which results in your body burning more calories. A 30-minute infra-red sauna can burn roughly 600 calories.

Improved Circulation

  • Consistent infra-red sauna sessions can help to stimulate blood flow, improve muscle recovery, and decrease pain and inflammation after exercise.

Skin Purification

  • By eliminating toxins from your pores and increasing circulation allows for clearer, softer and healthier looking skin.

What is the difference between that and a normal sauna?

An infra-red sauna uses light to create heat whereas a traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air which in turn, warms your body.

What do I wear?

Swimwear.

Is there anything else I need to bring along?

No, we will provide towels and a robe.

Will I be on my own or with someone else?

You can choose to be alone or with someone you know in the sauna. We do not allow more than 3 people in the sauna at any one time due to its size and recommend only 2 people at any one time for comfort. We would never put you in a sauna with a stranger.

How often can you have the sauna?

We recommend using the sauna once a week. It is the perfect pre-treatment to a massage.
