Spa Booster Review — #YearofPURE (pt 2)

Continuing her monthly reviews of PURE West Nile Street in the Glasgow city centre, our #YearofPURE competition winner recently visited us for our Valentine’s Day spa offer.

So, did Louise consider us her Valentine? Read on to find out!

written by Louise:

It has been a long  dark winter and I have had trouble shaking off the January blues, so I jumped at the chance to try out not one but two luxurious treatments as part of the Valentine Escape package at PURE Spa & Beauty.

I arrived at the West Nile Street spa straight from work, still buzzing from a busy day and not 100% sure how I was going to wind down for the deep tissue massage and Elemis facial that I booked, but I needn’t have worried.

Meet Alison, Glasgow Senior Therapist

Picture for blogLet’s face it. Going to a new spa or salon can be a little daunting sometimes, which is why we’re grabbing our new team at PURE West Nile Street as often as possible for some quick-fire questions!

You never know what you might have in common…

  1. What do you do outside of work?

Outside of work, I like to go for a hike usually around Loch Lomond. Nothing makes me feel better afterwards than a massage or infra-red sauna. There are some perks to working in a spa!

  1. My trade secret is…

Once you open a nail polish, roll the bottle between the palms of your hands, rather than shaking it. This keeps your polish in better condition. Shaking the bottle can create little bubbles that you may not notice when applying, but will notice when the polish dries.

A touch of France

There’s something so charming about having a French accent in the office! Today, we’re joined by the lovely Mathilde — a 17 year old high school student from the beautiful city of Marseille.

She’s here for the week on an exchange programme with Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schoolsjoining various businesses for a day or two of first-hand experience. She wants to study creative arts some day but knows business experience is a must. As for her art, she loves drawing anything from the Joker to Indian iconography.

Unfortunately, she’s going to be so busy that some Edinburgh tourism isn’t on the cards. Hopefully our “welcoming” Scottish ways (and a free massage!) will be memorable for her.

Before going off for her massage, we sat down for a little escapism and asked her about the best places to visit in Marseille, France:

1. Old Port of Marseille (Vieux Port)

maseille“The old part of Marseille is one of the best places to visit, particularly the port. Not so much for the boats, but for the shops! The main shopping street is called “Rue Saint Ferriol”, which has everything you need. Watching over it all is the Notre Dame de la Garde cathedral. No, not the one from the Hunchback of Notre Dame.  That’s in Paris.”

Yes, we did ask about the Hunchback of Notre Dame. And yes, we are jealous that the best we can get here is Sunshine on Leith…

Top 10 Things to do in Glasgow

Celebrating all things Glasgow, we asked our fabulous team at PURE West Nile Street to recommend their top 10 things to do Scotland’s style capital. Start planning your perfect day out!

1. PURE Spa & Beauty

Did you really think we’d leave ourselves off this list? Whether you’re starting your day or winding down, a visit to PURE West Nile Street belongs on any day plan.  And if you can’t make it to the city, visit us in Silverburn Shopping Centre instead.

Beautify your nails and eyes before hitting the town (did you remember to wax, too?), or finish a long hard day in our cosy spa upstairs. Turn those aches into tingles with a massage, or bring out your best features with an Elemis facial.

Check out a few snaps of the location taken by our therapists!

2. Cup Tea Lounge, Renfield Street

“Afternoon Tea” — two words that inspire the perfect GDO, overdue catch-ups with friends and reminiscing with your dear old mammy. And where better do this than the Cup Tea Lounge in the city centre?

Choose from over 40 blended teas and artisan sandwiches/paninis to satisfy your tastebuds. Located only around the corner from PURE West Nile Street, afternoon tea and a treatment with us makes for a fantastic day!

… And we know, we’ve done it 😉

3. Shopping in Princes Square

Buchanan Galleries? Where? What? No, we’re kidding. We love the Galleries but a shopping spree in Princes Square has that added element of luxury alongside high street staples.

Their designer boutiques are the green to our green-eyed monster (Vivienne Westwood, anyone? Space.NK?). Their courtyard dining is amongst Glasgow’s best, and according to them, is great for people-watching. Well, don’t mind if we do…
