So we’ve had a few days of glorious sunshine and warmer temperatures and if you’re anything like us, you’re probably panicking about what to wear? You may not even have packed your winter boots away and yet there’s talk of sandals. But don’t worry, we’re here to help with some examples of a Spring/Summer trend that’s versatile, easy to wear and the perfect way to manage the transition from Winter to Spring seamlessly.
Pastels have been popular for the last few Spring/Summer seasons and are back in a big way in 2012. You may have seen them popping up on the high street since the new season deliveries started trickling through just after Christmas and now it’s difficult to enter any shop without spotting a pastel hue. The best thing about this trend is that you can adjust it to your own style and choose exactly how you want to wear it. We’ve selected a few key items that can be mixed and matched (or worn together!) to create a look that fits in with your current wardrobe staples…
These tangerine jeans from Topshop are the perfect alternative to your usual blue skinnys and look amazing in the Summer sunshine. You can pair them simply with a white tshirt and flats for a simple look or be a bit bolder and match them with a pastel coloured top like this two toned pastel shirt from New Look which might just be the ideal way to slip a bit of Spring into your work wardrobe, paired with a simple pair of tailored black trousers. This mint coloured blazer would also inject an ideal pop of colour into a plain office outfit and can also double up as a casual light jacket on a cooler evening.
For the more daring among you, this lilac short suit from Topshop would also look amazing for the office throughout the warmer months and would look equally great as a more modern twist as a Summer wedding or night out outfit.
For those of you who prefer more classic and feminine styles, this lemon yellow dress from New Look is a simple style and shape that’s the perfect girly outfit for a summer day or evening and can be dressed up or down with the right accessories while giving a nod to the pastel trend at the same time.
Finally, pastel coloured shoes are the easiest way to give the pastel trend a go. These pink converse are fun and casual and will go with most outfits from simple jeans and denim shorts to sun dresses which need a little bit of toughening up. Meanwhile, these mint heels from Next can be added to the simplest of office or evening out outfits to add a pop of colour and a bit of interest!
What do you think? Will you be wearing the pastel trend this Spring/Summer? How will you be wearing it? And what outfits have you put together for the sunny week we’ve enjoyed?
