Fishy Pedicures? Fishy Business…

If you’ve dipped your feet into an exfoliating fish pedicure tank that are currently all over the country, take heed of this advice… STOP!!!

Garra rufa fish nibble on the dead skin of the feet. Booming in popularity over the past 2 years, pedicure stations are now in shopping centres and airports all over the country.

The exfoliating fish pedicure procedure involves clients putting their feet into a water tank filled with garra rufa fish, which suck off the dead skin.

However the Health Protection Agency are conducting an investigation into the potential dangers of spreading infection involved with the treatment.

The investigation is to check whether the treatment runs the risk of infections spreading, following fish pedicures being banned in the USA.

At PURE we believe pedicures should be luxurious and enjoyable, that’s why we use contemporary pedicure bars within our spas.
