Shaving Tips for Manly Men

Male grooming has been revolutionised in the 21st century. No longer content with simply using soap and water, men are now taking an active interest in their appearance and selecting new methods to look youthful and healthy.

Celebrities such as David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and even Gordon Ramsay demonstrate the changing perceptions of male grooming. David Beckham has always been an endorser for male grooming, which has resulted in many men around the country sporting new “Beckham-esque” hairstyles. You’ll also be forgiven for thinking celebrity chef and stress head, Gordon Ramsay, is looking a lot more attractive these days. Ramsay had botox to smooth the deep wrinkles in his forehead and chin, probably caused from all that ranting in the kitchen!

Men’s attitudes to grooming are changing, and as a 26 year old man, I too have jumped on the male grooming bandwagon. Everyday I cleanse and moisturise. I use an eye serum to remove fine lines and book in for a facial at least once a month. My therapist informed me that I have sensitive skin, therefore should use the right products for my skin type. Being completely honest, I’ve seen a huge improvement in my skin – so give it a go!

I really don’t enjoy shaving, my skin becomes irritated and sore. A way around this is to use a brush to lift the hairs from the skin, using a good cream or oil and then glide the blade in the direction of hair growth. This gives a more comfortable and closer shave.

What has brought about this change? Well for one we live in an image concious society and men are beginning to notice the benefits to having a skincare routine. There are various improvements that can be made to the skin, including looking younger, smoothing out lines and generally looking healthier. Skincare is no longer a women dominated market, it’s now time for men.
