We joke about getting beauty sleep, however there is evidence to say that sleep does keep you looking beautiful.
Lack of sleep shows dark circles and lines around the eyes, skin that looks fatigued and dull as well as feeling grumpy and irritable. 7 to 8 hours sleep is the ideal time to repair the body and wake up feeling refreshed.
However most of us complain about not getting enough sleep, even though we know we should really be getting more of it. So what can you do to help yourself relax into a deep and replenishing sleep?
Not drinking caffeine after 8pm is the first tip to stop your eyes being wide open all night. Caffeine is a toxin to our bodies and the chemicals manipulate our brains to stay alert. Limiting caffeine in the evenings, or removing it altogether, will be your first step to a good nights rest.
Don’t eat too late in the evening. Make sure to eat dinner no later than 7pm. If you eat later, your body will keep you up to digest all the food you ate, hindering your sleeping patterns.
If you find it difficult to sleep, take a hot bath and pop a few drops of lavender oil on the underside of your pillow. Lavender aids the brain to unwind and drift into a pleasurable, peaceful state.
Avoid television and other bright stimulants. Light a few candles and read a book or magazine. This will help tell your mind that it’s time to go to sleep so it can repair the skin and you’ll wake up feeling and looking fantastic.
Use Warm Cinnamon & Fig bath gel by Skin Wisdom Day Spa in your bath or shower. The fragrance relaxes the mind and lingers on the skin after bath time. Only £3.97 and available in all PURE locations.
By following the tips above, you should be able to drift off and start getting a better nights sleep. Remember to reduce stress levels by taking part in activities you enjoy, have at least one relaxing massage each month and get get plenty of rest.
